Antos Kotau is a 24-year-old activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy from Minsk. On 12 November, he was detained in the Pershamayski district for pasting stickers which say ‘Go away!’

The activist was held up at a police station for three hours. The police drew up a charge sheet and then let him go. Now Antos Kotau is supposed to appear in court. He is charged with violating article 21.14.2 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus ‘Breaking the rules of maintenance and care of the property of inhabited localities’. The activist may be fined from one to ten basic units.

It is worth mentioning that this article of the Administrative Code is often used by the authorities to persecute civic activists.

The rally under the slogan ‘Go away!’ was initiated by the BCD and Young Front. It will take place in the centre of Minsk in Kastrychnitskaya Square on 24 November. The rally starts at 6 p.m.
