Vital Rymasheuski, co-chairman of the BCD and ex-candidate for presidency, has been summoned to the headquarters of the KGB for interrogation on the 19th of January. This may be connected with the fact that the 19th of January marks a month's anniversary of the brutal dispersal of the peaceful rally on Independence Square in Minsk, when hundreds of innocent people were cruelly beaten up, arrested and thrown to prison. A month ago the regime launched unprecedented crackdowns on Belarusian civil society. The 19th of January has been announced to be the day of prayer for all the political prisoners. There were also other actions of solidarity on this day.

Let us remind you that Mr Rymasheuski is one of those opposition leaders who have been charged with organizing mass disturbances according to Article 293 of the Criminal code of the Republic of Belarus. On 31 December he was released from the investigation-isolation prison of the KGB. Before his release Vital Rymasheuski had to sign an undertaking not to leave the city and a confidentiality undertaking not to disclose any information related to the investigation.
