On 28 February 2011 the Supreme Court of Belarus dismissed the complaint of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party against the refusal of the Ministry of Justice to register the BCD.

The BCD co-chairman, Vital Rymasheuski, reported that the Supreme Court’s decision was “predictable”, however, the BCD have not yet received the official confirmation of judicial decision.

“Due to the fact that the court in Belarus lacks impartiality and objectiveness, we decided not to participate in the second hearing of our case”. On 22 February 2011, the BCD representatives asked for a possibility to study the documents of the Ministry of Justice; the court officials advised them to bring their own xerox in order to copy the documents. The court also refused the BCD in the request to allow Paval Sieviarynets, the BCD co-chairman and the political prisoner, to be present at the court hearings. Mr. Sieviarynets was the main organiser of the BCD registration process and now he is being held in the KGB prison in Minsk.
