THE ROUNDTABLE DEDICATED TO ISSUES OF DEVELOPMENT OF TOLERANCE IN BELARUSIANS TOOK PLACE IN MINSK
The host of the roundtable, the Co-Chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Alaksiej Shein informed the press-center of the BCD that it was the first attempt to conduct an event of such format. Priests of different denominations, representatives of the political structures, civic society, human rights organizations, and lawyers took part in the event.
According to Alaksiej Shein, the conference became “the first step in building the relationship between the civic society and religious structures, as well as the first attempt to identify the issue of tolerance and cooperation between the subjects mentioned above”.
The following topics were discussed at the conference:
“Problems and achievements in the civic-religious dialogue in the Republic of Belarus – new challenges”, “Development of tolerance in Belarus, possible forms of cooperation of different denominations, civic society and the state”.
The reports at the conference were given by the following people: lawyer, expert in the sphere of religious legislation Dzina Shautsova, the lawyer of the church “New Life” Siarhei Lukanin, the priest of the church “John the Baptist” Antonij Bokun, Roman Catholic priest Jury Barok (Glybokae), the Head of the civic unification “Good Will” Leanid Skarabahaty, the Co-Chairman of the BCD Vital Rymasheuski, the representative of the Christian educational center.
