Court trial over detained activists has been adjourned

The detained participants of the poetry event dedicated to the 20^th anniversary of the Declaration of independence have been released from custody. The gathering took place in the centre of Minsk on 27 July and was violently dispersed by the police, who detained Vyachaslau Siuchyk, Andrei Kim, Mikola Dzemidzenka and Kasia Davydzik. They are due to appear in court on 5 August.

On 27 July friends and relatives of the detained activists, who took part in the event marking the 20^th anniversary of independence, were waiting all evening for them to be released in front of the police station. However, in spite of all the promises the police have made, the detained have not been released.

National deputies from BCD campaign for major repairs of old building in Minsk

Lubou Kameneva and Valeriya Charnamortsava, national deputies from the Belarusian Christian Democracy from Minsk, are carrying out a campaign to urge the authorities to repair a house in Minsk. Along with its residents the activists have gone a long way through all the stages of authority, but in vain. The issue is currently being considered by the Administration of the president. If the problem is not solved there, the national deputies will take the issue to court.
