The Belarusian Christian Democrats have registered 203 initiative groups out of 204 (the group of the student Ernest Ruiza from Polatsk was denied in registration). The list of potential candidates was presented in the media and transferred to the Embassies of the Western countries.

According to the data of the Central Election Commission, the quantity of registered initiative groups of other political parties is as follows:


The Communist Party of Belarus: 111 initiative groups;


The party “Belarusian Popular Front: 71 initiative groups;


The United Civic Party – 60 initiative groups;


The Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) – 30 initiative groups;


The Agrarian Party – 25 initiative groups;


The Belarusian left party “Fair World” – 25 initiative groups;


The Belarusian party «The Greens» – 3 initiative groups,


The Liberal-democratic party of Belarus:  2 initiative groups.


The parties with official state registration have an opportunity to nominate their candidates for deputies at the local elections upon the decision of their directive board. However, those candidates who have serious intentions to fully participate in the electoral campaign register an initiative group to start the campaign a month earlier, collect signatures in their support and thus insure themselves.


The Belarusian Christian Democracy is turning into the leading democratic political force, - says the BCD leader Paval Sieviarynets. – We are convinced that our campaign will motivate the people all over Belarus before the year 2012.
