Minsk residents suing Minsk City executive committee
In August 2013 with the support of the initiative “Our Kuncaushchyna” and the organizational committee for creation of the party Belarusian Christian Democracy Minsk residents collected over 500 signatures under the demand to hold public hearings on the issue of high content of chlorine in potable water in Minsk’s October, Moscow and Frunze districts, BChD’s press-service reports.
Since then all the institutions, where appeals were submitted to, only sent back responses beside the point, saying that the water was good and there was nothing to worry about. At the same time the main demand to hold broad public hearings was ignored.
Then complaints were submitted about the actions of Minsk officials to the Prosecutor General’s office, Lukashenka’s administration and the Council of Minister. However, the appeals were simply redirected to Minsk City executive committee, which actually was the object of the complaints of Minsk residents. As a result, there was not response on the point from Minsk officials.
Due to that a complaint has been sent to court on behalf of 570 signers about Minsk City executive committee. The document has a demand to hold responsible the officials, who took their responsibilities irresponsibly, and the main thing – to have broad public hearings on the problem of high chlorine content of the potable water in the said districts of the city. The case has been registered for consideration. The court’s proceeding has been scheduled for 28 March at 11 a.m. in Gazeta Pravda Avenue 27.
