BCD press release. To the attention of independent media and the democratic community .
Attention provocation!
The Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy informs that in recent months there have been frequent cases when a person who was expelled from the Belarusian Christian Democracy and has nothing to do with the BCD tries to present himself on behalf of the Belarusian Christian Democrats. We would like to inform you once again that Georgi Dmitruk, who tries to speak allegedly on behalf of the Belarusian Christian Democrats, has no relation to the activity and work of the Christian Democracy, as he was excluded from the organising committee of the BCD. https://bchd.info/15519-belaruskija-hryscijanskija-djemakraty-zaklikajuc-da-adzinstva-i-asudzhajuc-pravakacyi-g-dzmitruka-i-ja-dudkina.html
We would also like to inform you that the Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy has decided that no one has the right to represent on behalf of the BCD party in public political processes, as this puts the members of the Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy in Belarus at risk of criminal prosecution as acting on behalf of an unregistered organisation. We remind that under the repressive laws adopted by the Belarusian authorities in 2022 – Article VC 193-1 “Illegal organisation of activities of a public association, religious organisation or foundation or participation in their activities” is punishable by imprisonment).
The Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party declares that on the basis of previous decisions and current political conditions the Belarusian Christian Democracy does not take part in the elections to the Coordination Council.
At the same time, according to the decision of the Organising Committee, the Christian Democrats can take part in the elections to the CC personally or by forming their own electoral lists without representing themselves as the Belarusian Christian Democracy party.
Recall: most members of the BCD organising committee remain in Belarus. Many Christian Democrats, including Pavel Seviarynets, are political prisoners. The provocations of Heorhi Dmitruk put them under additional threat.
We call on the democratic community and editors of independent media to prioritise the safety of these people and their families when publishing information.
Sincerely, Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party.
